    The SMB GTM Stack Report

Stack Finder maintains a hand-reviewed catalog of the software small and growth-stage businesses actually run their go-to-market on. This page reports what that catalog contains—category depth, comparison coverage, and where buying decisions cluster. Every figure below is computed directly from the catalog.

The catalog covers 224 distinct vendors, and 30 of 31 categories carry a structured feature matrix—meaning buyers in those categories can compare capabilities side by side rather than reading marketing copy.

    Where the choices pile up

Category depth is a proxy for buyer confusion: the more credible tools a category holds, the longer the evaluation takes and the more likely a team ends up paying for two products that do the same job.

    What the catalog shows

Choice, not capability, is the constraint. With an average of 7.4 credible tools per category, almost no SMB category suffers from a lack of options. The cost is evaluation time—and the duplicate subscriptions that accumulate when two teams evaluate the same category independently.

Overlap is structural, not accidental. Categories increasingly bleed into one another: CRMs ship email sequencing, marketing platforms ship analytics, and workflow tools ship reporting. That overlap is the mechanical source of the hidden SaaS tax most operators carry.

The decision is fit, not features. Across 892 head-to-head comparisons, the deciding factor is rarely a missing feature. It is integration with the systems already in place and whether the team will adopt the tool at all.

    Methodology

Figures are computed directly from Stack Finder's software catalog—no sampling, no estimation. Tools enter the catalog through hand review for SMB and growth-stage relevance, so the dataset describes the tools we consider viable for that buyer, not the total universe of software in each category. The "last updated" date above moves only when these figures or this analysis actually change, never on a rebuild. Vendors update features and pricing frequently; always confirm current details on the vendor's own site.
